Influence of Drying on Physico-mechanical Properties of Sized Yarn
Keywords:

The influence of 3 different drying methods on physico-mechanical parameters of yarn sizing has been investigated. Research has been performed on 4 different types of 100 % cotton yarn which has been sized on recently constructed laboratory sizing device. After the sizing, yarn has been dried on 3 different dryers: convection, contact and as a novelty - microwave one. The results have shown that dependency of physico-mechanical properties on drying effects is not significant. The greatest influence has been noticed in hairiness parameter, where the best results have been obtained with the contact dryer and the lowest one with the convection dryer. The greatest benefit of microwave thermal treatment is in its economical efficacy, so as in uniform drying at the whole treated volume. The sizing effects obtained by microwaves are similar to the one obtained with the most often explored contact drying.Downloads
