Abstract

Single jersey weft knitted fabrics of different density were designed and made based on calculations. Weft knitted fabrics were knitted on a singlebed circular knitting machine with a cylinder diameter of 760 mm and a machine gauge of E 28. Single yarns of a count of 20 tex were used for knitting. Manufactured knitted fabrics have a yarn consumption in a loop of 2.4 to 3.5 mm and a surface mass of 115 to 190 g/m2. Resistance of the fabric to ball penetration lies in the range of 232 to 360 N. Knitted fabrics presented in this paper are not intended for making garments, but for secondary application, i.e. for making mattrasses, furniture, automotive seats, toys, fruit tree protection, various packaging materials and the like.
