Abstract

Selecting proper fusible interlining in garment manufacture is still, primarily due to a wide variety of basic fabrics and fusible interlinings offered, a major problem. Having in mind the required end-use properties of the garment parts steam set, it is necessary to pay special attention to physical and mechanical properties of the shell fabric and fusible interlining, as well as to the parameters of setting. Investigations presented here are aimed at analysing the properties of the garment parts set, such as bond strength after setting and dry-cleaning, as well as some mechanical properties, such as formability, extensibility, shear rigidity and bending rigidity. Systematic method of data acquisition is presented, together with the preparation of data basis, e.g. sets for automated learning, on the basis of which the rules are defined to be used in selecting a proper adhesive interlinen. These rules are proved valid on practical examples, confirming the value of the method employed.
