HVI Systems of Evaluating Cotton as an Element of Yarn Quality Optimising
Abstract
Basic sorts and properties of cotton grown in the USA are presented, together with the manners of classifying American cottons by means of HVI classification. Department of Agriculture of the USA has developed a standardised procedure of measuring physical properties of cotton employing an electronic computer-aided system - HVI (High Volume Instrument Systems). HVI classification offers the possibility of determining fibre length, length evenness, strength, micronaire value, colour, leaf and other plant content, as well as impurity content.Downloads
